Through
the Eye Photography by Bob Lane
Bob Lane
resides in Augusta, Maine. He grew up in the shadows of Mt. Katahdin
in Millinocket, Maine where he developed an appreciation for
landscapes and nature.
Over the
last twenty years Lane has compiled a portfolio of broad-based subject
matter from coastal Maine, focusing on Monhegan Island, to the
wilderness of the West Branch of the Penobscot River region, northwest
of Baxter State Park.
Lane uses a
straightforward approach to his work. He prefers to employ a minimum
of gadgetry in terms of his equipment, using only haze and polarizing
filters, and flash - fill on subject matter. Lane does all of his own
matting and framing.
Primarily
self-taught photographer, Lane has taken photography courses at the
University of Maine in Augusta and attends frequent workshops
throughout New England. Lane works to allow himself to feel what his
subject matter is about and strives for a combination of composition,
light, and color to capture that feeling on film. In addition to his
position as a Program Planner and photographer for the Maine
Department of Labor.
Lane is a
licensed Master Maine Guide and provides day and overnight nature
photography trips. He also does wedding photography.
